This June, the Lamppost Education Initiative is honored to partner with MakeSpace in Alexandria, Virginia, and the Quba Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to present two special educational programs featuring Dr. Abdullah bin Hamid Ali, Associate Professor at Zaytuna College and Founding Director of the Lamppost Education Initiative.
These programs offer an opportunity to engage with the rich intellectual tradition of Islam and explore its enduring relevance to contemporary questions of faith, ethics, and daily life.

The Lamppost Education Initiative is pleased to partner with MakeSpace to present an evening dedicated to Imam Ibn al-Jawzi’s celebrated work, Dafʿ Shubah al-Tashbīh bi-Akaff al-Tanzīh (The Attributes of God), translated by Dr. Abdullah bin Hamid Ali.
This important text addresses common misconceptions concerning the Divine Attributes while affirming the transcendence and perfection of Allah through the lens of the Sunni scholarly tradition. Participants will gain valuable insights into one of Islam’s enduring theological discussions and its continued relevance today.
